Pet owner accused of biting man who tried to break up confrontation.

A New City man is accused of assault for biting a man as a result of a fight that broke out at a dog park in New City last weekend, according to the Rockland County Sheriff's Department.

Michael Budnick, 39, has been charged with misdeameanor assault in connection with the incident Sunday evening at Kennedy-Dells Park, a county-owned park at 355 North Main St., adjacent to Clarkstown's Zukor Park. Sheriff's Captain William Barbera said Budnick turned himself in at Sheriff's Headquarters in New City after an investigation into the park incident.

Budnick was released with a ticket to appear in Clarkstown Town Court in New City on July 26.

Barbera said Budnick and another dog owner apparently got into a fight at the park because of the way their dogs were playing. A third person tried to intervene and was bitten on the wrist by Budnick, Barbera said.

The bite victim was taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment.
