New City Rotary Supports Local Students

Members of the Class of 2010 receive scholarships from civic group.

The New City Rotary Club Monday awarded scholarships to local graduating high school seniors in its ongoing efforts to support local students who have shown academic excellence and involvement with the community.

During a ceremony at La Terrazza restaurant on Main Street in New City, Rotarians hosted the students for lunch and awarded the scholarships. Leading the ceremony was Rotary President Lenore Congemi with scholarship chairman Bart Silverman, vocational director Steve Botto and Rotary members Margaret Keller-Cogan, who is the Clarkstown Central School District superintendent, and Madelon I. Berger.

Picking up scholarships Monday were students Doug Woolley of Clarkstown South HIgh School, Alisha Vazquez, Vicky Atzl of Clarkstown North High School, Jennifer Bassik of Clarkstown North, Jonathan Boreman and Francis Nimick of Clarkstown North. Another scholarship went to Clarkstown North student Adam Gotlin, who was unable to attend the ceremony.
