New City Soldier Serving in Afghanistan Promoted
Christopher Edwin Day now a U.S. Army captain.

Christopher Edwin Day of New City has been promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army, with a ceremony marking his new rank held in Farah Province, Afghanistan, where Day is serving a combat tour of duty.
Day, who was serving as a platoon leader with the 4-73 Cavalry Squadron, 82nd Airborne Division prior to his promotion, has been assigned as senior logistics and supply officer in charge of brigade deployment and liaison with the Afghan Army and Afghan National Police.
Day is an Airborne qualified Army Ranger who has previously served a combat tour of duty in Tal'Afar Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is the son of Edwin and Jean Day of New City. His father is a member of the Rockland County Legislature, where he is the deputy minority leader.
