New City Volunteers Join Effort to Battle New Square House Fire

New City volunteer firefighters aided Hillcrest firefighters Tuesday night in battling a roaring blaze that destroyed a home in New Square.

The fire on Truman Avenue was reported around 6 p.m. and took volunteers until about 7:30 p.m. to bring under control. Volunteers from Monsey and Spring Valley also helped battle the fire, with volunteers from Nanuet, Thiells, Suffern and Hillburn on standby.
