N.J. Man Sentenced to Prison for Shopping Center Mugging

A New Jersey man was sentenced to 1½ - 3 years in state prison in Rockland County Court in New City Tuesday for mugging a woman at the Hub Shopping Center in Central Nyack.

Frank Grdich, 49, of 47 New Jersey Ave., Bergenfield, NJ, was sentenced by Acting sgate Supreme Court Justice William K. Nelson after pleading guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny for the May 3 attack.

District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said that about 1 p.m. on May 3 Grdich confronted a women in the parking lot of the Hub Shopping Center, asking her for money. As she opened her wallet, Zugibe said Grdich grabbed the woman's right arm and continued to hold it while she opened her wallet and took out her money.

Grdich grabbed the money and let go of the woman, who ran into the Stop and Shop supermarket. Grdich was later stopped in the McDonald's parking lot in Central Nyack and identified by two witnesses, Zugibe said.
