North Honored For Blood Drives Organized By Students

School to be cited for efforts during Yankees game.

Clarkstown North High School in New City has won in the "Most Improved High School" category for Hudson Valley in the 2009-2010 New York Blood Center/New York Yankees High School Championship program, bringing in 119 more units of blood this year than last year.

At the May 26 blood drive, 146 donors registered, resulting in 123 units of whole blood. The drive was coordinated by the school's National Honor Society in partnership with the New York Blood Center.

The addition of 16 year old donors to the school's blood drives for the first time last spring, coupled with the work of North's seniors resulted in the school's two best blood drives ever in November and March.

For their win, North received tickets to the Yankees game on Tuesday night where the school will be honored for its life-saving accomplishment.
