One Tank Adventure: Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome
A visit to the aerodrome, which features both planes and air shows, can be a fun family outing.

If you like antiques, airplanes, or are interested in aviation history, you may want to plan a trip to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in Red Hook, New York. The aerodrome has one of the largest collections of early airplanes in the world, as well as cars, motorcycles, engines and other memorabilia from the time between 1900 and 1939.
The aerodrome also has four museum buildings that display planes, including the 1909 Bleriot, the oldest flying aircraft in the U.S. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 23.
Not only can you see the airplanes and other memorabilia, but you can also see them in action. During the warmer months, the Aerodrome offers weekend air shows that chronicle the history of flight. The Sunday shows even feature a World War I dogfight. Air shows take place at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through October 9. Biplane rides are also available through October.
