Overnight Precipitation Continues Into The Morning

A mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain was expected to fall through the overnight hours into Thursday morning when it may change to all rain. Accumulations could reach two to four inches. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility. 

Nighttime temperatures were forecast to remain in the 30s with wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour. The Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service extends to 6 a.m. Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to move into the 40s with continued rain possible until midday.  A Flood Watch is also in effect with the potential for small stream and river flooding.

Rockland was already hit hard by the storm on Wednesday.  Clarkstown Police reported 16 accidents within a span of four and a half hours. Route 59 was closed in Nanuet from about 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. due to dangerous road conditions. Accidents and disabled vehicles were reported throughout the county along Routes 303 and 304 and many side streets.  

Orangetown, Clarkstown, county and state highway crews worked through the day and evening plowing and salting roads.
