Ramapo police have charged him with two misdemeanors.

RAMAPO — Police have arrested a school bus driver in connection with the injury of a child in March who got off the bus, was hit by a pickup truck and pinned under a minivan.
Edgar Hawkins, a 61-year-old resident of Stony Point, was charged Thursday with second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. He was processed and released with a future court date in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court.
An officer responding at 5 p.m. March 21 to the intersection of Pioneer Avenue and North Airmont Road about a crash involving a pedestrian found a child pinned under a 2011 Toyota Sienna. The officer and bystanders were able to lift the front end of the minivan and free the child, Ramapo police said at the time. The child was transported to Westchester Medical Center by WP Faist Ambulance and Rockland Paramedics.
