Police: Motorists Try to Take Car Keys Away From Man Driving While on Drugs
Car ran onto sidewalks, lawns; Nanuet man arrested at hospital.

A Nanuet man who was seen driving onto the sidewalks and lawns of a busy West Nyack street during the evening rush hour Tuesday is accused of driving while on drugs, according to Clarkstown police.
Police said they received calls from motorists in the area of Strawtown Road and Germonds Road in West Nyack at about 5 p.m. telling them that a car was being driven in an erratic manner on Strawtown Road. Police said that after seeing the car cross onto lawns and sidewalks, drivers from other cars on the road tried to get the keys to the vehicle away from the driver.
Police arrived as motorists were confronting the driver at the intersection of Strawtown and Germonds, where the driver had stopped at a four-way stop. Police identified the erratic driver as Richard Levey, 56, of Nanuet.
