Police: Nanuet Man Tried to Bribe His Way Out of DWI Arrest
20-year-old accused of offering two Clarkstown police officers $200 each.

A 20-year-old Nanuet man is charged with felony bribery charges after he offered two police officers $200 each to let him out of a drunken driving arrest, Clarkstown police said.
Police said Buddy Diener was stopped by a Clarkstown patrolman about 3:30 a.m. Friday as he was driving westbound on Route 59 in Central Nyack. Police said Diener was driving erratically and when he was questioned by police he appeared intoxicated.
In the process of being arrested, police said Diener offered the patrolman $200 to let him go and drive him to a friend's home. Police said the patrolman called a police supervisor, and when he arrived police said Diener offered both officers $200 each to let him go.

In response, Diener was charged with third-degree bribery of a public official, a felony, and driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said. Additionally, Diener was cited for refusing to take a chemical breath test of alcohol and he was issued a traffic ticket.
Diener was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court in New City by Judge Rolf M. Thorsen, who set bail for Diener at $2,500. Diener is scheduled to appear in Town Court for a hearing on Wednesday.
