Police: Teen Stole Neighbor's BMW, Led Cops on Chase That Ended in New City Crash
Stolen car, police cruiser collided; 17-year-old from West Nyack arrested after hiding in the woods.

A 17-year-old West Nyack boy arrested this morning after a car chase that ended with a collision with a Clarkstown police car in New City is accused of breaking into a neigbhor's home, taking the keys to a 2008 BMW and then stealing the car, according to police.
The teenager, whose name was not released by police, ran from the car crash on Lyncrest Avenue and hid in a wooded area, but was arrested after a search that included the use of a police dog, Clarkstown police said.
The incident began in West Nyack at about 12:10 a.m. today, police said, when the teen entered a neighbor's home through an open door and took the car keys. The stolen BMW was soon spotted by Clarkstown police officers, but police said the teenager refused to stop the car.

The car chase went up Route 304 to New City, where a town police car and the stolen BMW collided on Lyncrest Avnue. Police said both cars had minor damage as a result of the crash and neither the teen driver nor the police officer suffered serious injury in the collision.
The teen was arrested when he came out of a wooded area in New City.

The 17-year-old was being held at Clarkstown police headquarters in New City this morning pending arraignment in Town Court on charges including burglary, grand larceny and reckless driving.
