Police: Two Bronx Men Charged in Tool Theft

More than $4,000 worth of items involved in incident at West Nyack Home Depot store.

Two Bronx men are being held in the Rockland County Correctional Center in  New City after their arrest in connection with the theft and attempted theft of more than $5,000 worth of tools from Home Depot in West Nyack, Clarkstown police said Friday.

Police said the men are both accused of stealing $2,800 in tools and electrical components from the store at Palisades Center by putting them in back packs. Additionally, police said the men are accused of setting up another $2,400 worth of merchandise to be taken.

Police said Reynaldo Villegas, 36, and Elijah Brown, 27, both of the Bronx, were stopped at Home Depot at about 12:24 p.m. on Thursday and were then charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. Brown was also accused of illegal possession of marijuana, a violation.

The men were arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court in New City and ordered held in the county jail pending a court hearing.
