Prenatal Clinic Transfer Set For New Year's Day
Rockland County will transfer responsibility of the Prenatal Clinic to Nyack Hospital
Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef and Nyack Hospital President and CEO David Freed announced today that the county Department of Health will transfer responsibility for the Prenatal Clinic to Nyack Hospital, effective Tuesday Jan. 1, 2013.
“The New York State Department of Health has approved the transfer of services, and we have been working very closely with Nyack Hospital to ensure there will be no interruption in services for patients,” said Vanderhoef. “The site of services, as well as the doctors and midwives will remain the same.”
Patients will receive the same level of care after the transfer, according to the hospital.

"Clients can be very confident that the Prenatal Clinic's long history of delivering comprehensive services and excellent outcomes will continue in a seamless manner," said Freed.
The Prenatal Clinic is located at 258 High Avenue in Nyack. Pregnant women who have Medicaid or Medicaid managed care, or who are uninsured, can call 845-348-2550 to make an appointment to receive comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care.
“We are working very closely with Nyack Hospital to coordinate a smooth transition, and we are pleased that they will continue to provide the same level of care to our residents,” said Rockland County Commissioner of Health Dr. Joan Facelle, who is retiring in January.
The transfer of the program was first proposed in July 2011 by Vanderhoef as part of a package of cost-saving measures.
