RCC Offers Rocklanders Help Connecting with 'Green' Careers

Open House provides information on technology programs leading to careers in industries developing energy-efficient products and services.

Go green to earn some green.

That’s the message from Rockland Community College as it touts its programs that focus on environmental-friendly “green” technologies and related careers.

The college has a free open house on Wednesday, Feb. 16 to help Rocklanders learn how they can get into a career in green technologies.

The 6 p.m. event is slated for the RCC Technology Center Ellipse at its main campus in Ramapo, where school officials will provide information about Clean Energy Technology Training. Discussions are set to include Photovoltaics, information about Building Analyst courses for home performance professionals from the Building Performance Institute, and an overview of New York State Energy Research and Development Authority incentives to building owners who use renewable energy.

The  open house is sponsored by the RCC Center for Personal and Professional Development, which offers career and professional development courses. The program is partly funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the RCC Clean Energy Technology Training effort is part of a cooperative effort with the community colleges in Ulster, Dutchess, Orange and Sullivan counties.
