Rockland Detective Xavier Fernandez Dies At 31

Fernandez was assigned to the Rockland County District Attorney's Office Drug Task Force.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The Rockland County District Attorney’s Office said that one of its detectives died Friday.

The DA’s office announced Sunday that Detective Xavier Fernandez died at the age of 31.

He was born in 1991 and graduated from Rockland Community College with a degree in criminal justice.

Fernandez became an officer for the New York Police Department in 2015.

He began what he described as his dream job as a detective for his Rockland County home in November 2021 and was assigned to the DA’s office Drug Task Force.

Fernandez was quickly promoted to group supervisor and worked closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to combat drug distribution and related violence.

He is survived by his sister Marleny Fernandez and niece Mikayla.

Funeral and service arrangements have not yet been announced.
