Scattered Outages Remain
New City residents on Johnson's Lane told power will return on Wednesday night
Residents of Johnson’s Lane near Greendale Road could still look out their windows on Tuesday afternoon and see dangling wires and broken poles. Caution tape stretched across the street and a danger sign warned people to stay away. All remnants of the power outage left behind by Hurricane Sandy eight days ago.
One resident said he and his neighbors have called Orange & Rockland and been promised service late Wednesday night.

Of the situation he said, “It’s cold. It’s miserable. They’re saying by tomorrow night at 11 o’clock.”
He did not have a generator although he said there have been several running in the affected area since the hurricane hit. O&R announced as of 3 p.m. Tuesday that 90 percent of the customers who had lost power because of the storm have had it restored. However, more than 10,000 customers do not have power in Rockland County.
