Spring Valley Man Gets 14 Year State Prison Sentence

Andrew Baxter, 30, Spring Valley has been sentenced to 14 years in state prison and five years post‐release supervision after being convicted for his role in a knifepoint robbery of a deli. The jury found Baxter guilty of robbing the Pitstop Deli on South Central Avenue in Spring Valley on June 26, 2012. His co-defendant Paul Giddens, 29, of Spring Valley was convicted of felony counts of robbery and a misdemeanor count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in April.

Following a three-day jury trial Baxter was convicted of one count of Robbery in the 1st Degree, a class “B” Felony and sentenced to 14 years in state prison, one count of Robbery in the 1st Degree, a class “B” Felony and sentenced to 10 years and sentenced to five years post‐release supervision. Baxter was also sentenced to serve one year in state prison for his conviction on one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a class “A” Misdemeanor relating to a knifepoint robbery in Ramapo. The sentences are to be served concurrently according to District Attorney Thomas Zugibe.
