New City Fire Chief Kenny Flynn said the sprinkler system at China King on South Little Tor Road worked as it should. He said the system extinguished the grease fire before firefighters arrived.  The fire was reported just before 6 p.m. on Monday. No injuries were reported. Water from the restaurant's sprinkler system was reaching several lower level businesses and nearby stores suffered some smoke damage. The Clarkstown fire and health inspectors were at the scene along with about 20 New City fireighters and about a half dozen Clarkstown police officers. Water from the sprinkler system flowed through the parking of the strip mall.
