Guided walks provide access to Rockland's hidden treasures.
The summer is a wonderful season to spend outdoors and explore the diverse landscape of Rockland County, especially if you have an expert trail guide docent to lead the way.
Rockland County is getting ready to kick off a new season of guided walks, which are all free an available to the public.
Here are the upcoming walks, with the date, start time, finish, place and length:

Participants should wear proper footwear (close-toed sturdy shoes such as walking shoes/boots) and clothing (light colored), and bring water and sunscreen. Walkers are encouraged to bring binoculars, a walking stick, and insect repellant.
Walks are sponsored by the Rockland County Division of Environmental Resources, the Rockland County Youth Bureau's AmeriCorps program and the Rockland County Department of Health's Steps to a Healthier Rockland program.
Pre-registration for walks is recommended.
For more information about each walk such as directions and walk route go to www.rocklandsteps.org/calendar and search for guided walks. Additional walks added to the 2010 schedule will be listed as well. You will receive notification of upcoming walks after registering to attend one guided walk.
