HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Autumn Community Dinner
Join Westhab for a heartwarming community dinner just before Thanksgiving! Volunteers are needed to help with serving food to those in need, setting up and decorating for the event, providing hospitality and engaging guests, and cleaning up after the dinner. This is a great project for young volunteers who need community service hours.

Turkey Burn at Lenoir Preserve
Come get moving alongside Westchester Parks Foundation to manage the growth of wisteria floribunda at Lenoir Preserve using hand tools and rakes! (Don't worry: no turkeys are harmed!)

Wreath Decorating at the Farm
Volunteers will participate in a festive wreath-decorating event at Muscoot Farm, arranging wreaths, swags, and garlands. These handmade decorations will be used to decorate the farm for the holiday season, adding a touch of holiday cheer. Whether seasoned decorators or beginners, volunteers' creativity will help transform the farm into a winter wonderland. Help spread holiday spirit and making Muscoot Farm shine.

Career Mentors for Young Women with Autism
Yes She Can is seeking mentors to work with individuals on the autism spectrum in Westchester County. During the course of a year, volunteer Career Mentors will cover topics that will help a mentee become better communicators and leaders. Topics include establishing rapport, listening skills, setting boundaries, self-advocacy, projecting confidence, articulating strengths, discovering values, flexibility, creativity, staying positive, and accepting and providing feedback with grace. This is a hybrid opportunity.
