Two Men Stopped on Route 59 Hit With Drug Charges

Nyack resident accused of driving while impaired by drugs.

Two men were hit with drug-related charges after their car was stopped on Route 59 in Clarkstown, according to State Police.

Police said John A. Savas, 23, of Nyack, was stopped about 2 a.m. on Friday by troopers from the State Police barracks in Haverstraw. Savas was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

At the same time, Sean R. Nazario, 23, of Congers, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of narcotics, a felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Both men were being held pending arraignment in Clarkstown Town Court in New City.
