Utility Work Ongoing Along South Main Street
Gateway construction and utility updates are the current focus of the New City Revitalization Project

The Clarkstown Town Board reports the work on the New City Revitalization Project is in full swing. Utility companies, which worked throughout the late winter and early spring, moving utility lines and removing poles will continue that work in a south to north direction. Once the poles are removed, the contractor, Morano Brothers, will resume work on the main section of South Main Street.
Also, Morano Brothers is beginning construction on the portion of South Main Street south of the entrance to downtown New City from Route 304. This location is viewed as the entrance to New City's business district. The project includes the installation of a fountain at the southern end of the Premier Orthopedic building.

The former Adopt-a-Spot in the grassy area on the south side will transition to a shared venture between sponsors Steve Botto Landscaping and Majestic Lawn Care & Landscaping. Landscape architects with the town's consulting firm, Behan Associates, are designing the area.
In its release, the town board noted, "The goal is to complete the work safely, with high quality, and as few disruptions to the businesses as possible."
