Valley Cottage Woman Accused of Raiding Son's Trust Fund

Money was set aside for child injured when he was struck by a car; funds were supposed to be untouchable until boy reached age of 18.

A Valley Cottage woman whose 21-month-old boy was struck by a car and injured in 2007 has been charged with looting a $31,395 trust fund set up for the child, according to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe.

Zugibe said Tenisha Eurie, also known as Tenisha Rickens, 26, of 67 Hess Road, Valley Cottage, has been charged with one count of third degree grand larceny after a probe by his office’s Special Investigations Unit.

On May 21, 2007, Eurie’s son was seriously injured by a car while riding a scooter. The incident led to a civil settlement for $31,395 that a court ordered be held in a trust fund for the child which could not be used until the boy turned 18.

Eurie is accused of moving the money into her personal bank account. Zugibe said Eurie visited two different branches of the same bank until a teller made the transaction. Zugibe said that by the time the bank realized the error, Eurie had spent more than half of the money put aside for her son.

Eurie was arraigned in the Town of Ramapo Town Court by the Judge David J. Stein and was released pending a March 14 hearing.
