Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Holiday Toy Sorting

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

ESL Tutors

Volunteer Tutors are needed to work one-on-one or in small groups with adult English language learners to help them practice their conversational skills. Volunteers are provided with textbooks and simple grammar exercises. Volunteers must be 18+.

Fairy House Building

Crafty volunteers are needed to help construct fairy houses and façades for a future program at Marshlands Conservancy. Construction may require the use of hot glue and/or spray paint. Volunteer spots are limited for each date.

Health and Wellness Ambassadors

Montefiore Nyack Hospital is seeking active, enthusiastic, empathetic, and devoted adults to help promote healthy habits and provide health education to attendees at community events across Rockland County. This is a perfect opportunity to give back to the community and meet new people. Training and materials are provided and hours are flexible. Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and be able to lift boxes.

Holiday Toy Sorting

Open Door Family Medical Center continues its 37-year tradition of bringing holiday cheer to underserved families in the community. More than 4,000 gifts are expected to be distributed at its six medical centers—that takes a lot of sorting and a lot of volunteers! Volunteers are needed to help sort and pack toys by appropriate age and gender.
