Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Park and Garden Work Days
Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.
This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
Head Start Center Set-Up Volunteers
Family Services of Westchester is seeking support with setting up its newest head start program in New Rochelle. Volunteers will assist with classroom set-up (including moving furniture) as well as with posting required early childhood program documents (e.g., CACFP menu, Emergency Plans, Program Hours of Operation, etc.) around the center. Head Start staff will offer instruction. Great for volunteers 16+.
Date: 1/28-1/31 from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 12:30-3 p.m.

Program Ushers and Event Volunteers
JCC Mid-Westchester is seeking adult or teen volunteers to assist as Ushers and Event Support for its upcoming performances. Volunteers will help check in registered participants, serve as program ushers, and provide general customer service. This project is perfect for volunteers 16+ (or 13+ with an adult).
Date: 1/29 from 6:15-7:15 p.m.; multiple opportunities

Park and Garden Work Days
Ward Acres Conservancy is seeking volunteers to help with pulling, digging, and cutting invasive plants around the park to make room for beneficial native plants that provide nectar, pollen, and berries for pollinators like Monarch butterflies, hummingbirds, and songbirds. Volunteers can also assist with litter and debris cleanup. Volunteers must be 18+, but those 13+ can register as part of an adult volunteer's team. Great for small groups!
Date: 2/1 from 12-2 p.m.

Volunteer Interpreters (Georgian)
Neighbors Link is looking for a volunteer who speaks Georgian to help its team interpret a legal defense case. This volunteer would help translate between the client and the lawyers who are helping this individual. Volunteers must attend a video call orientation to participate.
