2 Assaulted, 1 Shot At New Hyde Park Party: Police

Two people were assaulted and another was shot Tuesday at a party in New Hyde Park, according to police.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Nassau County police are investigating after two people were assaulted and another was shot Tuesday at a party in New Hyde Park.

It reportedly happened on Nassau Terminal Road, near the border of Garden City, around 11:20 p.m.

According to authorities, a group of people was severely beating a 23-year-old man when a bystander — identified as a 19-year-old woman — intervened. As she was attempting to stop the fight, two of the attackers took out pistols and pointed them at her, while another hit her over the head with a glass bottle.

The attackers then fired multiple shots into the large crowd and struck a 38-year-old man in the leg before fleeing the scene, police said.

Both male victims were hospitalized and are currently in stable condition, police said. The female victim declined medical attention at the scene.
