30 Herricks Students Attend Model United Nations Conference

Under the supervision of High School Social Studies Teacher Chloe Graef, 30 Herricks High School Students traveled to Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island to participate in a three-day Model United Nations Conference.

Model United Nations is an activity in which students act as delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees as well as historical scenarios. The students were tested for their public speaking skills, creativity, problem solving abilities and diplomacy. While all students did an excellent job, Viren Sehgal (10) received an Outstanding Delegate award for representing Armenia in the GA Plenary Committee.

Students will also get the opportunity to attend EagleMUNC, a Model United Nations conference held by Boston College, in March of 2018 as well as many local conferences on Long Island. The Herricks Model UN Club will hosts its own conferences in January and May.
