Sewanhaka Central High School District’s Board of Education celebrated the achievements of the district’s Class of 2015 valedictorians and salutatorians at their February meeting.
The board recognized Elmont Memorial’s valedictorian Ashley Simon and salutatorian Harold Ekeh; Floral Park Memorial’s valedictorian Nicholas Konzelman and salutatorian Molly Dixon; H. Frank Carey’s valedictorian Kacie Candela and salutatorian Maria Gargiulo; New Hyde Park’s valedictorian Jay Shah and salutatorian Morgan Roth; and Sewanhaka’s valedictorian Shahzaib Saleem and salutatorian Aleena Imran.
Prior to the students receiving certificates, principal’s from each of the district’s five high school’s read a list of the students’ academic achievements, extracurricular activities and community service. In addition Ekeh was also celebrated for being selected as a semi-finalist in the 2015 Intel Science Talent Search. His research teacher Michelle Flannory was also honored.

Board of Education President David Fowler congratulated the students on their achievements both inside and outside of the classroom, which he described as “inspiring.”
