Heavy Rains To Hit Nassau County On Tuesday: National Weather Service

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Heavy rain and thunderstorms will return to Nassau County on Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

A 50 percent chance of storms will take place, ahead of an advancing cold front, the service said on social media.

Some of the storms could produce heavy rain, with a south wind of 8 to 11 mph.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms can be expected into the night, mainly before 8 p.m.

Storms are also predicted for Wednesday and Thursday.

Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. South wind 8 to 11 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming west after midnight.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Light and variable wind becoming north around 5 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m., then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent

Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 85.
