Nassau Man Set Multiple Fires At Businesses: Police
Police say he set three fires in one day, damaging two buildings in the process.

NORTH NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A Nassau County man was arrested Sept. 10 and charged with setting multiple fires around the area in the same day.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call at 3:34 p.m. on Sept. 10 for a larceny and active fire at Five Below, located at 697 Hillside Ave. in North New Hyde Park. When officers arrived, they found a shopping cart full of items on fire. Police say they were told that a man had stolen the shopping cart of items, and then lit it on fire in the side parking lot of the store.
Police say Jatinder Singh, 29, was seen on video striking a match and lighting the cart on fire. The officers searched the area and found Singh, placing him under arrest without incident.

According to police, Singh also started a fire in a dumpster near Outlook Safety, located at 226-10 Jericho Turnpike in Bellerose, at 1:47 a.m. the same day. The fire damaged the unoccupied building. An hour later, they say he also set potted plants on fire outside of G Resnick Realty, located at 249-02 Jericho Turnpike in Bellerose, at 2:55 a.m. That fire damaged the canvas awning of the building.
Singh is charged with petty larceny, fifth-degree arson and two counts of fourth-degree arson. He was arraigned on Sept. 11 and released without bail.
