Northwell Worker Fatally Shot In Parking Garage: Hospital

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — A Northwell Health employee was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in New Hyde Park, according to the hospital.

In a statement, Northwell said the shooting took place in the publicly-accessible parking garage of its facility at 1999 Marcus Ave. Several team members rendered aid to the victim. The unidentified employee was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.

"We refer all further questions to Nassau County Police Department, which is actively investigating the incident," the hospital said in a statement.

Northwell also said it is providing counseling services to workers as they mourn the loss of their colleague.
