• New Hyde Park Fire Company set to take over for Floral Park (newsday.com) — Fire protection for parts of Floral Park Centre is now being handled by the New Hyde Park Fire Department, which may soon also take over EMS if a new contract is approved. North Hempstead’s town board will set a February 10 public hearing on the deal, amid broader concerns about declining volunteer firefighter numbers in nearby communities.
