Police: Driver Seen Weaving In And Out Of Traffic Faces Weapons Charge

The Elmont resident was stopped late Monday on Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau police said.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — An Elmont man faces a weapons charge in Hempstead after a traffic stop Monday night, according to Nassau County police.

He was arrested at 11:47 p.m. after officers from the Bureau of Special Operations saw him weaving in and out of traffic on Hempstead Turnpike. He was westbound in a 2008 red Nissan Altima, police said.

During an investigation after the car was stopped at the corner of Heathcote Road, the officers found a .357 Magnum revolver inside, police said.

Dominick J. Fievre, 27, of 247 Jacob St. was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and several violations of the vehicle and traffic laws, police said.

He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court, 99 Main St., Hempstead.
