Wet, Dreary Weekend Ahead For Long Island

The weather is looking pretty awful for this weekend, but one day certainly looks better than the other.

The first weekend of May promises to be wet and dreary for Long Island.

There's a chance of thunderstorms overnight into Saturday and then a chance of showers into Saturday afternoon. The rest of Saturday will likely be dry, but Sunday is shaping up to be pretty much a washout. Rain is likely to begin early Sunday and continue into the evening.

Friday Night- A chance of showers before 9pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9pm and 2am, then a chance of showers after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 53. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday- A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. North wind around 6 mph.

Saturday Night- Rain likely, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. East wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday- Rain. High near 58. East wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Sunday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49.

Monday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 65.

Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 51.

Tuesday- Sunny, with a high near 69.
