1. Hudson Valley Exposition - Saturday, Aug. 1 in Peekskill

The historic Hudson Valley Exposition revival, after a 70-year hiatus, begins Aug. 1 from 12 to 10 p.m. at Peekskill Riverfront Green Park. Fun, food, education, history—this event has it all. The night will feature the Entergy sponsored Laser Light Spectacular at around 9:15 p.m., when the skies above will fill with dancing laser lights accompanied by music. Best viewing will be from inside the park.

2. Rockland Boulders Star Wars Night - Friday, July 31 at Provident Bank Park

Rockland Boulders host the first-ever “Star Wars Night” at Provident Bank Park, while the team plays against the Quebec Capitales at 7 p.m. Presented by Dig Safely New York, the event will benefit Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, according to the Boulders’ website. Prizes, bidding and fireworks will all take place at the event.

3. Rye Playland’s International Friendship Day Celebration - Sunday, Aug. 2 in Rye

Rye Playland is celebrating International Friendship Day by offering $15 rides admission, free playland friendship bracelets, and giveaways and activities with local vendors and sponsors.

4. Second Annual Sand Castle Competition - Saturday, Aug. 1 at Glen Island Park

Creating sand sculptures, figures, castles and the like are highly encouraged at this family-friendly event open to all Westchester residents, according to Westchester County. The competition is judged based on creativity, height, technical difficulty and space-usage, and participants should bring their own shovels, pails and other building tools necessary. Registration is the day of the event from 10 to 10:30 a.m. and is on a first-come, first-served basis, and there is a $10 fee per entry.

5. New York Renaissance Faire - Begins Aug. 2 in Tuxedo Park

Beginning Aug. 2 through Sept. 21, every Saturday, Sunday and Labor Day Monday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the New York Renaissance Faire will feature games of skill, Marketplace shopping featuring over 100 artisan shops, unique foods and more.

“Travel back in time to a 16th century English shire, filled with adventure, music, romance and fun for the whole family! Journey with Robin Hood’s Merry Band or have an audience with Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth I. Watch thundering steeds clash in a death-defying joust!” the events description on Facebook says.
