73-Year-Old Woman Struck And Killed By Car While Walking

New Rochelle police said the 23-year-old driver stayed at the scene of the accident, and is cooperating with investigators.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — On Tuesday, around 7:54 a.m., officers responded to Pinebrook Blvd. and Amherst Drive after receiving a report of a vehicle/pedestrian collision with serious injury, the New Rochelle Police Department says.

Once on the scene, police found a 73-year-old pedestrian who had been walking north on Pinebrook Blvd., before being hit by a vehicle also traveling north.

New Rochelle Fire Department and ambulance personnel rendered aid to the woman who was struck, before taking her to a local hospital, where she later died.

Police say that the driver, a 23-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

There are no criminal charges at this time.

Police say the names of those involved in the accident are currently being withheld and the department said that it sends its condolences to the victim of this accident.
