Arrest Of Teen In New York City Is Connected To Barbershop Shooting Here: Police
The suspect taken into custody this weekend is a 16-year-old resident of the City of Middletown, authorities said.

MIDDLETOWN , NY — A suspect in last week's shooting has been arrested, according to Middletown police.
On Friday, detectives from the City of Middletown Police Department, with the assistance of the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center, the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, and officers from the NYPD's 33rd and 30th Precincts, traveled to New York City to locate a suspect connected to the shooting at a West Main Street barbershop on Wednesday,.
After a coordinated surveillance operation, officers spotted the suspect exiting a building.

The suspect taken into custody is a 16-year-old resident of the City of Middletown. Due to his age, no further identifying information will be released, according to police. The suspect was taken to the City of Middletown Police Department, where he was booked and processed on one count of second-degree attempted murder.
"This crime understandably shocked our community, given the extreme violence and reckless nature of discharging a firearm inside a local business," Middletown Police Chief John Ewanciw said. "I commend the dedication and professionalism of all officers and detectives involved in this investigation. Their swift action led to the successful apprehension of a dangerous suspect. The Middletown Police Department remains committed to ensuring public safety, and we will not tolerate acts of violence within our city. I am confident that justice will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law."

On Saturday, the suspect was arraigned in Youth Part Court at Middletown City Court before a City of Newburgh judge. He was remanded to a juvenile detention facility in lieu of $200,000 cash bail, $400,000 partially secured bond, or $800,000 full bond.
