Westchester Man Arrested After Possessing,Sharing Child Sex Abuse Material: DA
The 46-year-old West Harrison man once worked for the athletics department of an area school district, according to the DA.
WEST HARRISON, NY — A former school district employee has now been charged with crimes related to child pornography.
Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced on Friday that 46-year-old Richard Salerno, Jr., of West Harrison, was arrested and charged with felony promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, and felony possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child.
"As I promised during the campaign, crimes against or involving children are a top priority for my administration," Cacace said. "We will seek to hold accountable anyone who targets, exploits or injures children as part of their criminal conduct."

Salerno was arraigned in Rye Town Court on Dec. 11 and pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail was set at $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond/$25,000 partially secured bond.
He posted bail, and is scheduled to appear in Harrison Town Court on Jan. 13.

According to court documents, on two separate occasions in 2024 and 2025, Salerno possessed and/or shared media of children being sexually abused.
His employment history includes work for the athletics department of an area school district in the late 2000's, according to the DA.

The case was investigated by the High-Tech Squad within the DA's Office, and is being prosecuted by Cyber Crimes Bureau Chief Michael Delohery.
