Beakoncé Rules The Roost: Cuomo Chicks Get Winning Names

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The results are in and the falcons nesting high above the Tappan Zee on the Mario M. Cuomo Bridge have names.

Schoolchildren in classrooms across the Hudson Valley chose ten finalists and nearly 200,000 votes were cast over the past week to name the four new falcon chicks.

And the winners are…

• Beakoncé (26 percent of the vote)
• Estrella (23 percent)
• Taylor Swoop (19 perecnt)
• Jet (14 perecent )

The names were chosen by the most creative schoolchildren on earth:

• "Beakoncé" was coined by Ms. Tolomeo and Ms. Ingram’s 3rd graders at Greenvale Elementary in Eastchester.
• "Estrella" was the handiwork of Mrs. O’Brien’s 4th graders at Park Avenue School in Port Chester.
• "Taylor Swoop" was the result of "bad blood" in Ms. Kopac, Ms. Sullivan and Mr. Tanenbaum’s 4th grade classrooms at Cottage Lane Elementary in Blauvelt.
• And "Jet" was the brainchild of Mrs. Pease’s 5th graders at Bedford Hills Elementary in Bedford Hills.
