The Catch Of The Day: The Free Children's Fishing Derby Returns
New Rochelle Parks and Recreation will again be holding its annual Children's Fishing Derby at the Twin Lakes of Huguenot Park.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Taking kids fishing is a rite of passage and there might be no better time to hang the "Gone Fishing" sign than now.
It's time once again for the Annual Children's Fishing Derby held by New Rochelle Parks and Recreation. The event will take place at the Twin Lakes of Huguenot Park (in front of New Rochelle High School) on Saturday, June 11, from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The free event is geared towards students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Children should bring their own fishing rod, reel and hook. A limited supply of fishing bait will be available as well as snacks (don't get the two confused). Prizes will be given for the biggest and smallest catches.
