FDA officials were notified in late November about a listeria outbreak resulting in several people at long-term care facilities getting sick. An investigation linked the outbreak to Lyons ReadyCare or Sysco Imperial brand shakes. This ongoing outbreak has cases that date as far back as 2018, with 20 cases reported in 2024 and 2025.
Of the 38 people who got sick, 34 reported living in long term care facilities or were hospitalized prior to becoming sick.
Lyons Magnus LLC said in a statement it is voluntarily recalling 4 oz. Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes due to the potential for the listeria contamination.
The recalled products were distributed primarily to long-term care facilities and were not available for retail sale, the company said.
