Flash Flooding, Road Closures As Storm Bands Dump Rain On Westchester
Heavy rainfall in a short time quickly turned streets into rivers in parts of southern Westchester and more precipitation may be on the way.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Heavy rainfall associated with bands of power storms moving through the region have left cars underwater and roadways and parkways in Westchester County closed.
Police are reminding drivers that if there is pooling water on the roadway, turn around and find an alternate route. Even just a few inches of water is enough to float and disable a small sedan. Officials with the National Weather Service note that most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
As of 7 p.m., the Saw Mill River Parkway southbound is closed, south of McLean Avenue. Nepperhan Avenue is also closed from Odell Ave. to Cross Hill Avenue. Warburton Ave. from Arthur Street to Odell Ave. is closed.
