Free 'Saturday Summer Sings' Concerts Come To New Rochelle Library

The concert series for kids and families will kick off on Saturday with Music Pepper Pot and continue through the school break.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — It's never too soon to introduce your kids to the magic of the theater, and thanks to the library, that perfect opportunity is right around the corner.

The New Rochelle Public Library's "Saturday Summer Sings" summer concert series for kids and families will kick off this Saturday, at 11 a.m. in the Ossie Davis Theater at the library.

The concerts are intended for children ages 2 and up and their families, and will feature three well-known family entertainers on select Saturdays.

The final Saturday Summer Sings concert at the New Rochelle Public Library on Saturday, August 17, at 11 a.m., features a special performance from Turtle Dance Music with Mr. Matt in an autism-friendly show filled with music, comedy, dance and adventure. (NRPL).

"We're thrilled to announce the return of our 'Saturday Summer Sings' concert series," Robert Simic, Head of Children's Services at the New Rochelle Public Library, said. "After last year's overwhelming success, we made sure to bring these performances back to our community this summer. The concerts will be held in the comfort of our air-conditioned Ossie Davis Theater, offering families a perfect weekend activity that complements our extensive weekday children's programming."

Saturday's concert will feature Music Pepper Pot with Conroy Warren. Organizers say the interactive program promises will be an hour of non-stop fun and movement with a wide range of music styles, including contemporary and cultural reggae, calypso, meringue, rock and roll, and rhythm and blues.

On Saturday, August 3, at 11 a.m., the library will present Musical Island Adventure with Miss Jolie. The library says that the island-themed program will be filled with songs, stories, and lots of movement and dancing. Miss Jolie will bring a twist to classic children's music playing her ukulele, guitar, and other musical instruments (plus props for the kids too).

On Saturday, August 17, at 11 a.m., there will be a special performance from Turtle Dance Music with Mr. Matt in an autism-friendly show filled with music, comedy, dance and adventure.

The concert series is made possible through the support of The Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library. All concerts are free and open to the public. The Ossie Davis Theater is located inside the New Rochelle Public Library, at 1 Library Plaza.
