Experience the Green Wonders of Spring: Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse Announces Exciting Gardening Class Series for Kids

New Rochelle, NY 5/7/24 – As the warmth of spring envelops us, Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse is thrilled to unveil a series of engaging and educational gardening classes designed especially for children. From composting with earthworms to crafting desert dioramas with succulents, these classes promise to inspire young minds and nurture a love for nature.

Starting on May 18th, children aged 6 to 11 are invited to join us for a journey into the world of gardening and environmental stewardship. The series kicks off with "Wriggling Wonders: Earthworm Composting," where young environmentalists will explore the role of earthworms in creating rich soil and craft their very own compost bins to take home. This interactive session is just the beginning of a series that promises hands-on learning and fun.

On May 25th, get ready for "Green Faces: Plantenstein Creations," a workshop where children will unleash their creativity by crafting charming plant portraits using cuttings from jade and spider plants. With personalized touches, each creation becomes a unique masterpiece to cherish.

The series continues with "Sustainable Harvest: Three Sisters Seed Mosaics" on June 1st, "Cacti Creations: Building Your Own Desert Diorama" on June 8th, and "Flower Power: Exploring Nature's Colorful Creations" on June 22nd. Each session is carefully crafted to provide a unique learning experience that blends hands-on activities with environmental education.

In honor of Father’s Day, join us on June 15th for a special class: "Robot Bugs in the Park!" Dads are invited to join their children for free as attendees learn about robots, circuits, and motors, and build their own take-home vibration-powered robot bugs. It's a perfect opportunity for families to bond over tinkering and exploration.

"We're excited to offer these classes to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards," says Karen Hessel, Secretary of Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse. "Our goal is to foster a love for nature and gardening while providing opportunities for hands-on learning and creative exploration."

All classes will take place at Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse, located at 44 Wildcliff Road, New Rochelle, NY, on Saturday mornings. Class fees range from $15 to $40. Spaces are limited, so early registration is recommended.
