Hudson Valley Stands In For Long Island In New Julia Roberts Movie
"Leave the World Behind" is set on the other side of the LI Sound, but you might recognize a few local landmarks in the Netflix thriller.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Hollywood icons Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Ethan Hawke and Mahershala Ali are the stars of the highly anticipated new release, "Leave the World Behind" hitting theater screens and Netflix on Friday, but the Hudson Valley has a prominent, if unbilled, role as well.
The film by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail is set on Long Island, but a number of filming locations in the Hudson Valley stand in for Long Island. The film follows a family as their vacation is upended as a cyber-attack changes the world as we know it.
The story is billed as a sort of "apocalypse comes to the Hamptons thriller" that sees a luxurious beach getaway become a crisis that forces a reckoning in which everyone must come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.
