Lafayette Essay Contest - 4th & 5th grade students

Calling all 4th & 5th grade students who reside in New Rochelle to enter our Lafayette Essay Contest. Win prizes, enter today for free.

When the Marquis de Lafayette visited the Westchester area on August 20, 1824, everyone celebrated and on August 18, 2024 Mt. Vernon, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Rye and Port Chester did again in grand style!

To keep the celebration going, the Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association, one of the New Rochelle hosts, is offering a Lafayette Essay Contest to all 4th & 5th grade students who reside in New Rochelle, NY. Students can attend public, private (in or out of New Rochelle) or be homeschooled.

The contest officially opened on August 20th and will remain opened until midnight on November 1st, 2024. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners will receive cash prizes along with other prizes listed on the Essay webpage. All entries will receive a prize.

The contest is being sponsored by the Anne Hutchinson Chapter of the DAR, NY Masons, and the Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association.
