New Rochelle Reopens Some School Tennis Courts Saturday
New Rochelle's food distribution sites will also be handing out additional food during the long weekend.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The outdoor tennis courts at New Rochelle High School and George M. Davis Jr. Elementary School are reopening to the public Saturday, New Rochelle superintendent Laura Feijóo announced Friday in a letter to the community.
The community's food distribution sites are also stepping up their portions this weekend to account for the three-day weekend, she said. Distribution sites will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
"This weekend we honor the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice serving in the United States military," Feijóo said. "Memorial Day, which comes on Monday, reminds us to appreciate the freedoms we enjoy because of their service, patriotism and sacrifice."

- Groups are not allowed to congregate.
- Chairs, benches and other areas of congregation remain closed.
- All public buildings, including bathrooms, are still closed to the public.
The tennis courts at Albert Leonard Middle School remain closed because they're isolated in the middle of the school grounds.

"We will assess the situation as the state continues to adjust the measures we all must take to stop the spread of COVID-19," Feijóo said. "We look forward to the day when we can lift restrictions and arrive at our 'new normal.' Until then, we hope community members take advantage of this step in that direction."
