Overnight Freeze Watch For Southern Parts Of Westchester: NWS
A seasonable fall cool and freezing temperatures are returning to the region with a vengeance, but milder weather is on the way.
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Areas in and around the Sound Shore will likely see freezing weather overnight, but you still have time to protect vulnerable outdoor plants.
The National Weather service is warning about a freeze watch that is in effect from late tonight through Wednesday morning in southern Westchester, southern Fairfield, southern New Haven, southern Middlesex, southern New London, eastern Bergen, northwest Suffolk, northeast Suffolk, southwest Suffolk and southeast Suffolk.
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, according to the NWS.

Since the frost could kill sensitive outdoor plants if left uncovered, the NWS recommends taking steps as soon as possible to protect tender plants from the cold.

To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they should be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly, according to the weather service. In-ground sprinkler systems and above-ground pipes should be drained to protect from freezing.
