Roadways Reopen After Flash Flooding Turns Evening Commute Treacherous
Flooding was reported on U.S. 1, Bronx River Parkway, the Hutch and the Sprain Brook.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Torrential rains quickly flooded major roadways in the region just as the evening rush hour got underway.
The Bronx River Parkway was closed in both directions, between Main Street in White Plains and the Sprain Brook Parkway split in Yonkers, according to Westchester County Public Safety. Significant flooding also occurred on the Hutchinson River Parkway, near Mill Road in Eastchester. n
Port Chester DPW and emergency services responded to flash flooding affecting several streets around the village, including N. Regent Street, Boston Post Road, and Abendroth Avenue.

"Please exercise caution if you intend to be on the road this afternoon into this evening as heavy rain is expected to continue through Friday morning," officials said in an alert released as the evening commute started. "Stay away from areas of Port Chester that regularly flood and remember that ponding on roads may be concealing deeper waters that can pose significant danger."
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Southern Westchester County.

Meanwhile, a downed tree on the tracks caused Metro-North to bypass some Westchester stops on the New Haven Line this evening.
